Bible 101 Course

Join us as we explore and discuss how to effectively read the Bible!  This 8 week course will  cover the following topics designed to help both novice and experienced Bible readers further their understanding of God's word.

Week 1: Liminal Space - Understand how our worldview influences our perception of the text.

Week 2: Text & Traditions - Explore the oral and written traditions from the Ancient Near East that shaped how the biblical authors constructed their record of God's working with and through humanity.

Week 3: Literature as a Science - Identify the Bible as literature and understand that texts have rules for how they are meant to be read and intepreted.

Week 4: Stories are Narratives? - Understand how to identify and interpret biblical narratives.

Week 5: Poetry in Motion - Understand how to identify and interpret biblical poetry.

Week 6: Let's Argue...Have a Discourse - Understand how to identify and interpret biblical discourse.

Week 7: Keys to the Kingdom - Understand and identify key words, key phrases, and key themes that are woven throughout the biblical texts.

Week 8: Putting It Into Practice - Apply the knowledge and skills acquired from this course with specific case studies.
